I’m not sure about the rest of the world – but come summer every manner of bug packs its family up, towels books and sunglasses and heads down under for the break.  At least it seems so, once the weekend BBQs start up.

I’m not one for slathering nasty chemicals all over my skin so any natural bug spray that works is a winner with me!

A natural pain reliever and circulatory stimulant, lemongrass was traditionally used in Chinese medicine to relieve sore muscles and joints. The aroma clarifies and heightens consciousness, while the antibacterial, antiseptic, antioxidant, antiviral, disinfectant, and astringent properties enable the oil to strengthen skin health and protect the immune system.

But the uses of this oil do not end there; lemongrass is a superb bug repellent that defends against any number of bugs, be they mosquitos, ticks, or fleas.

Blended together with lavender and eucalyptus, you can quickly have yourself an all-natural homemade bug spray that will ensure a happier, less irritating summer.  And it smells great!

Time to get outside and soak up the vitamin D!
